En hacker, den moderne tids mirakelmann, må ta opp kampen mot kreftene som truer med å ta kontrollen over menneskene. Heldigvis har Hiro allerede støtt på kuréren Y.T., som med sine "skate"ferdigheter og sin skarpe tunge kan bringe de fleste maktfaktorer ut av balanse. Dette er en bok fylt med mengder av god, gammeldags action, ispedd profetiske innblikk i en digital verden som ligner på den utviklingen av cyberspace vi nå har begynt å se for alvor. En svært fascinerende bonus er de historiske trådene som trekkes til den sumeriske kulturen og Babels tårn - uten at jeg kunne skille mellom fakta og fiksjon på dette området. Mitt første møte med Neal Stephenson, men definitivt ikke det siste.
