Laurence og Temeraire har endelig kommet tilbake til England etter reisen deres til Kina. De regner med å få en varm velkomst, men blir sørgelig skuffet. Det viser seg nemlig at en epidemi har angrepet de engelske dragene, og de står alle i fare for å dø. Dermed blir Laurence og Temeraire nok en gang sendt ut, denne gangen til Afrika for å lete etter en kur mot sykdommen. "Empire of Ivory" er godt skrevet med slående vakre beskrivelser og bygget på en solid grunn av fakta. Den er til tider både munter og mørk, med en original historie og de samme sterke, troverdige personene som i tidligere bøker. Virkelig en kvalitetsbok.

Det viser seg nemlig at en epidemi har angrepet de engelske dragene, og de står alle i fare for å dø. Dermed blir Laurence og Temeraire nok en gang sendt ut, denne gangen til Afrika for å lete etter en kur mot sykdommen. "Empire of Ivory" er godt skrevet med slående vakre beskrivelser og bygget på en solid grunn av fakta.
