Om forfatteren

Louisa May Alcott was born in Pennsylvania in 1832, the second of four daughters to the philosopher Amos Bronson Alcott, and she died in 1888 at the age of fifty-six. She was educated at home and went on to become a schoolteacher in Boston. Her first book, Flower Fables, was published when she was twenty-two, but she interrupted her career as a writer to nurse soldiers at a Washington hospital during the Civil War. Her most enduring book, Little Women, was published in 1868, and was an instant success. Her other books include Little Men and Jo's Boys.

– Denne flotte boken handler om March-familien som består av fire søstre, Meg, Jo, Beth og Amy, deres mor og faren deres som er i krigen. Boken tar i begynnelsen altså sted under den amerikanske borgerkrigen, og følger så alle søstrene gjennom livene deres - på godt og vondt. Jentene er alle forskjellige, men deler det gode hjertet og omtanken og trives sammen og lager skuespill og teater på loftet. Sjebnene deres føler så forskjellige veier, men ingenting kan skille familien. Veldig koselig, trist og vakker bok som alle kan kose seg med foran peisen. Boken er lettlest, og har senere blitt filmatisert.
