Advanced Materials from Recycled Waste examines the structural components of waste and looks at how best to transform those waste materials into advanced materials that can be utilized for high-end applications. Sections explore what is meant by Waste – looking at what are the sources, types of waste, and the management techniques and three sections dealing with specific types of waste materials, including Industrial, Agricultural and Plastics/Polymers. Classification, characterization, utilization of, physical and mechanical properties, and design and development are explored for each of these materials. Each section concludes with a review of the challenges and future prospects for their utilization.

This book will be a vital resource for a broad audience interested in the reuse of waste materials, including materials scientists and materials engineers in industry involved in the recycling, reuse and reclamation of materials and industrial byproducts, and some more general environmental scientists and engineers involved in sustainable development.

Sarika Verma is currently working as Principal Scientist at Materials for Radiation Shielding and Cement free Concrete division CSIR-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (AMPRI), Bhopal - 462026, MP, India. She has more than fifteen years of diverse experience in Research and Teaching in CSIR & other academics Institutes such as CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal Govt. of India, respectively. She was awarded a Ph. Din Chemical Sciences from BarakatullahUniversity, India. Thereafter, she worked in different capacities like a research scientist at Technische universitad, Darmstadt, Germany, Pool Scientist (CSIR-HRDG, New Delhi), and Women Scientist (DST). She is the recipient of various prestigious awards like young scientist, women scientist etc. She has around 20 patents filed. Over the years, she has been intensively engaged in multiple R & D to design and develop advanced materials useful for different broad application spectrums like cement-free materials, Radiation shielding materials, polymeric composites, biomedical and energy materials via novel techniques. She has experience in transferring the know-how technology to industries likeM/S HCL, M/S Assurays, etc. Dr. Raju Khan is currently a principal scientist and associate professor in the Industrial Waste Utilization, Nano and Biomaterials at the CSIR-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute. He received his PhD in physical chemistry from Jamia Millia Islamia, Central University, New Delhi, India, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Sensor Research Laboratory in the Department of Chemistry at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa. He is a member of the International Advisory Committee, World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). He has more than 15 years of R&D experience at CSIR and other academic R&D institutes. His current research is on electrochemical biosensors integrated with microfluidics for clinical applications. Mrs. Medha Mili is currently working as Scientist at Integrated Approach for Design & Product Development division, CSIR-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (AMPRI), Bhopal - 462026, MP, India. She has completed her M.Tech in Polymer Science & Technology from Tezpur University. Her current research on Development of Synthetic and Natural Fibre Based Polymer Composites • Polymer Processing • Smart Shape Memory Polymer Composites. • Development of Composites by Utilization of Waste Raw Materials.
