– Incredibly good book. I also thought it was a quite funny and deep book if you read between the lines.

'If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.'
The first of J. D. Salinger's four books to be published, The Catcher in the Rye is one of the most widely read and beloved of all contemporary American novels.

– J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye" is a classic of modern literature, and is one of the most universal novels I can think of; it has something that everyone can identify with, and is as a result hilarious and often disturbing! The novel revolves around a young man named Holden Caulfield, who is absolutely confused through his own existential discontent, he is at odds with the world, and finds it impossible to fit in or find his way. This is a novel explaining and researching the difficulties of becoming a young adult, and it's of a plot and characters that I believe will appeal to young readers, perhaps making sense of the challenge of being a teenager and young adult. "The Catcher in the Rye" is truly a novel worth being called a classic! The writing is engaging, the characters as well! Well worth a read!
