– Nicky og faren Robert er ute på en av sine mange skogsturer da de hører en lyd som viser seg å være en nyfødt baby. Robert får babyen levert på nærmeste sykehus, men de er redd det allerede er for sent. Babyen overlever utrolig nok å ha ligget i den kalde snøen. "Light on snow" handler mest om hvordan Nicky opplever det å finne en forlatt baby og etterforskningen som blir satt igang for å finne barnets mor. Samtidig får vi glimt inn i fortiden til Nicky og Robert, livet før ulykken som gjorde at familien på fire ble til en familie på to. Både Robert og datteren har hatt to harde år siden kona og yngste dattera brått ble revet bort fra dem. Hendelsen med den forlatte babyen ripper opp i gamle sår, men kanskje er det ikke bare negativt?
