– Boka handler om en gruppe "utskudd" av noen greskstudenter på et college i Vermont. Som den nye studenten i gruppa på seks er Richard Papen facinert av både den eksentriske læreren og sine medstudenter. Det viser seg etterhvert at flere av studentene bærer på mørke hemmeligheter og man forstår tidlig at noe stort er i emning. Denne boka overveldet meg fullstendig med sitt fengende språk og spennende historie. Donna Tartt skriver på en slik måte at man nesten føler at man kjenner hovedpersonene, og faktisk bipersonene også. Boka slutter aldri å overraske da det er nye hemmeligheter og avsløringer rundt hvert eneste hjørne.
Dette er en av de absolutt beste bøkene jeg har lest, og den anbefales på det varmeste! Boka bør leses på engelsk, da mye kan gå tapt i en oversettelse.
