– The book "To Siberia" is almost poetically written and events unfold as remembered by a 60 year-old woman. She recalls her bleak childhood growing up in a small town in Denmark and her special relationship to her brother, Jesper. The invasion of the Nazi's and the long lasting ramifications of this event even after the war round out this scatters novel. This book is starchy and poetic, and it's beautifully written. Great for book clubs, it will generate lovely discussions. I was swept away by this story. I highly recommend this book to everyone, so just sit down and enjoy this amazing book!

In the bitter cold of Danish Jutland, where the sea freezes over and the Nazis have yet to invade, a young girl dreams of one day going on a great journey to Siberia, while her beloved brother Jesper yearns for the warmer climes of Morocco. Their home, with a pious mother who sings hymns all day and a silent father, is as cold as their surroundings. But the unshakeable bond between brother and sister creates a vital warmth which glows in spite of the chill and the dark clouds that threaten to overtake their dreams.
