Born in Mexico to Russian-Polish Jewish parents, Ilan Stavans is a lexicographer, cultural commentator, and author who teaches at Amherst College in Massachusetts. His works include Dictionary Days, Spanglish, the graphic novel Latino USA, and the autobiography On Borrowed Words.
