– I Smoke and Mirrors har Neil Gaiman samlet mange av sine noveller og dikt. Historiene tar oss med til en underlig verden der ingenting er som det ser ut. Gaimans historier er ofte både mørke og skremmende, men allikevel fulle av hans særegne humor. Både blod, smerte og død er mye til stede. Her får vi blant annet Beowulf skrevet som en episode av Baywatch - i verseform, en krimhistorie der hovedrolleinnhaverne er engler, og en historie om det å skrive historier. Boka passer bra for alle som liker mørk fantasy, spesielt hvis de liker Gaimans andre verker. Den er på en gang morsom, vakker og skremmende.

– This is Neil Gaiman's second Shortstory collection, and it does reprint some of the stories from 'Angels and Visitations' (his first collection). Despite this it's got so much original work, it's well worth the price. Neil Gaiman writes about everything from creepy wedding presents, to science fiction sex to the Holy Grail, in his easily recognizable prose. This collection also includes two of my absolute favourite Gaiman stories; the re-written fairytale Snow; Glass and Apples (based on Snow White, but seen through the wicked queen's eyes) and Murder Mysteries (the story about angels that got turned into a beautiful comic). Gaiman is a master of his genre, mixing our world and fantasy elements flawlessly. If you are a fan of good stories, than be sure to get this collection. I also really enjoyed Gaiman's introduction to each story.
