'The classic tale of alien invasion, and still the best' The Times

The first modern depiction of extra-terrestrials attacking the earth, The War of the Worlds remains one of the most influential of all science-fiction works. It shows the whole of human civilization under threat, as terrifying, tentacled Martians land in England, build gigantic killing machines, destroy all in their path with black gas and burning rays and feast on the warm blood of trapped, still-living human prey. The forces of the Earth, however, may prove harder to beat than they at first appear.

Edited by Patrick Parrinder with an Introduction by Brian Aldiss and Notes by Andy Sawyer

Medlemsvurdering:
War of the Worlds is a timeless science fiction story. Martians invade earth after their own planet has become uninhabitable. Little did they know that humans would do everything to protect themselves. This book is exciting until the very end. It's fantastic mixture of horror and suspense will keep you at the edge of your seat until the last page. H.G Wells wrote the book, and it has inspired countless authors after that.
The book is easily read. It can get a little technical at times, but that doesn't stand in the way of the thrilling storyline. It truly is THE masterpiece of the genre.
I reccommend H.G Wells' War of the Worlds to anyone.
