– Ok, so the first 100 pages or so have been described by some as a bit slow and boring, but you have to realise these older books always take time setting the scene and atmosphere; if you take time to really look at the language you see how effective the author is in doing this! Its factors like these that make the old and classic stories legendary and brilliant! So, let's break down the storyline quick and simple! The story is basically about Quasimodo, he is a hunchback who lives in Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. He's the bell ringer for the cathedral, but because of his deformity he does not venture out often and is riduculed by the townspeople. The plot deepens as Esmeralda is unfairly accused of murder of a man who in fact is not really dead. She is sentenced to be hung and with this Quasimodo jumps down from the church and saves her. As far as I am concerned, this story is a classic, both in novel form and the film made by Disney! A wonderful, romantic and charming story, not to be missed!
